The LSAT (Law School Admission Test) is a crucial step for law school applicants. However, the fees can be a barrier for many prospective students.
Fortunately, the LSAC (Law School Admission Council) offers an LSAT fee waiver to help alleviate this financial strain. This guide will walk you through the process of applying for the LSAC fee waiver step-by-step.
1. Create or Log In to your LSAC Account
Visit LSAC.org and log in or create an account.
2. Click on the “LSAT” tab located at the top of your dashboard then click on “The LSAT”
3. Click “LSAC Fee Waivers”
4. Start the Fee Waiver Application
5. Determine Your Dependency Status
LSAC classifies applicants as either independent or dependent, which affects income thresholds and required documentation.
6. Submit Required Documentation
Upload the following within 45 days of application:
Federal tax returns and all relevant schedules (e.g., Schedules A, B, C, etc.)
Verification of Non-filing Letter from the IRS (if you didn’t file taxes)

Government-issued photo ID
Any additional documents requested by LSAC
7. Complete Required Prep in LawHub
After receiving conditional approval, complete:
Two LSAT PrepTests in “Exam Mode”
