About Tarrant County, Texas and its District Attorney’s Office

The current elected District Attorney of Tarrant County is Phil Sorrells. Sorrells has a long career with Tarrant county, serving as a prosecutor and then as the judge of County Criminal Court No. 10 for 25 years. Some of his policies include support of the police, reform of the Tarrant County bail system, expediency of court processes, and strong management of illegal immigration.​

The District Attorney’s Office is made up of four divisions: Criminal, Civil, Investigation, and the Chief of Staff. These divisions are all overseen by the District Attorney. According to their website, more than 45,000 cases are filed every year and range from capital murder to misdemeanor theft.
